Our selection of the most unusual festivals in the world will surely be useful for people striving for something new.

Burning Man («Пылающий человек»)

Held in Black Rock Desert, Nevada (USA), it starts on the last Monday of August and ends on the first Monday of September. This bright and spectacular мероприятие призвано собрать общество, способное к «радикальному самовыражению и самоопределению», лишенное границ и стереотипов.

Burning Man («Пылающий человек»)

The cult of creativity - one of the main ideas - is manifested everywhere: in giant statues, often abstract or even fantastical in content, in incredible costumes, music, performances, and involvement of every participant. Active participation, not passive observation, is one of the important principles of the festival. The culmination is the burning of a huge wooden statue of a person as a symbol of creative energy tearing from within. The peculiarity of its conduct became the absence of money on-site, self-provision with food and water, as well as cleanliness of the venue.

Boryeong Mud Festival (Фестиваль грязи)

In mid-July at its peak summer season, the resort town Porec in South Korea welcomes thousands of tourists to the "dirtiest festival." Looe Key Reef (Подводный музыкальный фестиваль)

One of the most unusual festivals held in July off the coast of Florida (USA), in one of the largest coral reef reserves - Florida Keys. Its uniqueness lies in the fact that the entire event takes place at the bottom of the ocean, and participants attempt to "play" musical compositions among exotic underwater inhabitants. This unusual music is transmitted above water through speakers located on a boat. A key goal of the event is to draw attention to the preservation of the remaining living coral reefs along the coast.

Cheese Rolling (Сырная гонка)

This "chase" for a 5-kilogram wheel of cheese traditionally takes place on the last Monday of May on Cooper's Hill near Gloucester (United Kingdom), hence it is also called Cooper's Hill Cheese-Rolling.. According to local residents, this tradition has been going on for several centuries, although local authorities have repeatedly tried to intervene: ban it, move it to a safer place, collect fees, etc.. Но английские традиции сильнее любых запретов, поэтому каждый год сюда приходят зрители в ожидании захватывающего зрелища.

Cheese Rolling (Сырная гонка)

The essence of the race is that participants chase after a wheel of cheese down a steep hill as part of a team command. The winner is the first to reach (roll or fly) to the cheese and cross the finish line. At the bottom of the hill there are several emergency medical teams and rescuers ready to help "especially speedy" participants stop. It's worth noting that such a race is very dangerous: serious injuries such as fractures, dislocations and bruises have occurred. But this doesn't stop those eager for an adrenaline rush and that coveted wheel of cheese.
