Pianist Matvey Shumkov

Matvey Shumkov is a pianist, composer, accompanist, and teacher, laureate of international and all-Russian competitions. His program includes significant works by classics from Bach to the present day. A special place is occupied by Brahms, Schumann, Schubert, Rachmaninoff, and Ravel, alongside avant-garde: Webern, Bartók, Schnittke, Feldman, Takemitsu, Pärt.

His playing was covered by the press service of the Brahms International Piano Competition in Detmold (Germany) and the press center of the Vera Lotar-Shevchenko Memorial Competition. On site, it looks restrained: an instrument, a pianist, silence in the hall.
