Corporate events are often put together on the principle of "as long as the music doesn't interfere with conversation." And then one of the guests asks for a song that isn't in the playlist, and the evening loses momentum. With a live band it doesn't work that way: the musicians hear the request and play it a minute later.

Yuri Surin is a vocalist and bass guitarist educated at the Sverdlovsk Tchaikovsky College, pop department, bass guitar and vocals. He has been performing at corporate events and open venues for eight years; for the last three years he has led the band 'Gorizont' from Yekaterinburg, and after moving to Moscow the lineup is called 'UNIKUM'. He keeps over 300 well-known songs in memory, picks up accompaniment after one or two listens, has multi-part singing skills, and writes and arranges himself.

On site it looks simple: a guest names a song, Yuri listens to a couple of bars and picks it up — with voice and bass at the same time. Multi-part singing allows him to cover parts for which a separate backing vocal is usually hired. With his own equipment — active speakers 2×500 W, Yamaha 124CX mixer, Fender JB5 bass guitar, Shure microphones — he arrives and sounds great without long setup of someone else's set.
