Female cover band "Smooth Kats"

When all the toasts at a corporate event have been made and guests are still glancing at their watches, it's best to hand the stage to those who can switch the room's mood from the very first song. Not background music for the sake of it, but a live band that holds attention and gets even those who weren't planning to dance onto the floor.

Smooth Kats is a female band of six musicians from Saint Petersburg. According to their own description, it is the only female band in Russia playing funk and acid jazz. The repertoire includes world hits in pop, funk, acid jazz, disco, jazz standards, and instrumental pieces. Lineups are flexible: from quartet to sextet.

The band's track record includes performances at PMEF-2015, Gazprom and Rostelecom events, appearances at Harley-Davidson and Petrojazz festivals, and shows at AURORA Concert Hall, Kosmonavt, Jagger, and Stroganoff venues. They are laureates of the Czech Jazz Contest and have toured the Czech Republic, Latvia, and Estonia. On stage, it comes across as a tight, polished sound with no gaps: horns, rhythm section, vocals — and a program that carries the evening from light jazz to dance-floor disco.
