The banquet hall is set, guests are taking their seats, someone is already looking for their table — and at that moment, a saxophone starts playing from somewhere in the corner. No stage, no lights, no MC announcement: just live sound that fills the pause and dispels the awkwardness of the first ten minutes.

Yuri Verbenko is a saxophonist from Saint Petersburg. He builds his repertoire around the venue and the audience, without a fixed program: jazz, rock, pop. The list includes ABBA, Bee Gees, George Michael and Chris Rea, Jobim, «Bravo», Rozenbaum, melodies from Soviet cinema. He plays both to backing tracks and together with a DJ.

The value of this format is that it doesn't require a large stage or lengthy setup. Yuri performs at guest arrivals, during the banquet, and on the dance floor — in a restaurant, on a terrace, on a boat, on an open-air venue. The sound comes from wherever he is at that moment, and the audience hears it up close. Between sets, people can talk comfortably; when the dance part begins, the saxophone integrates into the DJ's set, and the evening doesn't fall apart into separate acts.
