For a banquet — banquet seating for 100+, for a buffet reception a smaller capacity will also work, for a conference — theater seating for 100+ with a 10–15% buffer.

Why does the selection include halls larger than needed?

The listing shows the maximum capacity; it is more comfortable when the hall is slightly larger than the number of guests — there is space left for a stage and dance floor.
