About the artist

A corporate event often follows the same scenario: a host, toasts, a balloon contest, someone filming on a phone. Guests wait for the moment they can return to the table. With hypnotist Sergey Shelest, the evening unfolds differently: instead of a stage — a circle of spectators, instead of a program — what is happening here and now with specific people from the audience.

Sergey Shelest is a stage hypnotist, author of the immersive show “The Last Emperor of Hypnosis.” The premiere took place on October 31 at the Kshesinskaya Mansion and became the first event of the social project “Revival of the Imperial Salons of Petersburg.” This is not a concert act from a stage, but a session where guests become participants: volunteers experience scenes of time travel, reveal unexpected abilities, invent and live through their own illusions, and meet fictional characters.

The key difference is that the plot changes over the course of the evening depending on the participants' reactions, so no two shows are alike. The audience sits around the performance area and does not watch from the sidelines but is inside the action. The show works both in a salon interior and in an ordinary banquet hall — the format adapts to the space.
