However, almost 70% of applicants answered affirmatively to the question "Do you have experience in the event industry?" And 89% note that they had to develop creative ideas. It turns out that almost everyone believes that they have experience in organizing events. But upon detailed examination of resumes, it turns out that almost 44% of those who claimed to have experience either have no experience at all or have little experience in related fields. Thus, many go to work in the event industry without realizing what it really entails.

Who is applying for the position of event manager?

Образование. Since there is no specialized higher education in the event industry, people come to the event industry from various professions. At the same time, 93% of respondents have higher education, and only 7% have secondary vocational education.

The event agency "Aventura" found that the majority of applicants (33%) are graduates with a degree in "advertising and public relations." By the way, according to experts, this is one of the most suitable specialties for an event manager. In second place is "Management and Marketing," with 25% of applicants having education in this field. About 7-8% have education in journalism and a similar percentage in directing. Some applicants with a design background (5%) and technical professions (4%) also submit their resumes. 17% of those surveyed have education in other fields (law, medicine, accounting, etc.).

It is worth noting that 83% of respondents have foreign language skills at various levels, from basic to professional. Some know 3-4 languages. 77% of applicants have design skills. And 78% have sales experience.

Moreover, the majority of applicants for the position of event manager are women - 71%. As for bad habits, the majority (76%) do not have them. Interestingly, out of the 24% who smoke, 15% have work experience; one can only hope that this correlation did not arise because of this very experience.


How much do they pay?

64% of applicants who indicated their salary level would like to earn an average of 70 thousand rubles. The minimum salary they expect is 40 thousand rubles, and the maximum is 133 thousand rubles. Some do not specify their desired salary level. Meanwhile, the average salary for an event manager in St. Petersburg is 30 thousand rubles, slightly higher in Moscow (around 40 thousand), and in the regions it ranges from a minimum of 10-15 thousand rubles plus a percentage from events conducted.


Applicants' experience in numbers.

Of those with work experience, 69% note that the maximum project budget they worked on ranged from 0-500 thousand rubles. 19% worked with budgets from 500 thousand to 1 million rubles. Only 12% dealt with projects amounting to 1-20 million rubles or more. Event agency specialists at "Aventura" note that the level and budget of an event largely depend on the company's status, the level of the event agency, and the professionalism of the manager; more experienced professionals are entrusted with more extensive projects.


Requirements for candidates

The work of an event manager is a lifestyle. Therefore, an event specialist needs to possess qualities that directly affect their professional activities. These include: articulate speech, sociability, politeness, clear diction, as well as adequacy, determination, client orientation, stress resistance, and efficiency. About 40% of applicants possess these qualities.

"We always welcome proactive and creative individuals; however, experience and understanding of the specifics of the work are also important to us. After thoroughly studying hundreds of resumes, we have seen many people with 'enthusiastic' eyes, but almost half of them have no idea about working in our field... Therefore, choosing a truly worthy and suitable candidate is not always easy," explains Mikhail. "It is also worth noting such advantageous skills as high achievements in previous positions, any design skills, experience in telephone negotiations, and of course experience in the event industry.

It is advisable to start by obtaining specialized education in related fields or completing courses in event management (many major event agencies currently offer such courses). The specialists at the event agency "Aventura" advise starting a career both in the field of events and in any other areas from the 'bottom,' as only experienced specialists are always hired for high positions and high salaries. Therefore, you can intern at any reputable event agency or work for some time as a volunteer at major significant events.
