About the artist

A foreign speaker at a corporate event is always a gamble: some in the room understand English, some don't, and by the end of the second slide half the participants are already scrolling on their phones. The problem isn't the speaker, it's that there is no live bridge between the stage and the audience.

Maria Zimer is a conference interpreter with German, Russian, and English. She received her degree in Conference Interpreting from Heidelberg University and has been in the profession since 2012. She works simultaneously from a soundproof booth with headphones, in whispered mode with a 'whisperer' on plant tours, and simultaneously in Zoom video conferences; at negotiations and master classes, she interprets consecutively using interpreter's note-taking. Her specialization is politics, economics, and medicine; her clients include international organizations and corporations.

The difference is noticeable on site: the speaker does not slow down or simplify their wording for the interpreter, and the audience hears live speech in their own language at the same speed as it is delivered. Maria keeps terms, figures, and industry-specific realities in mind until the last slide — this is what ensures work without pauses or program lags.
