Simultaneous interpreter Svetlana Taskaeva

An international forum, a foreigner speaks without pauses, and the audience hangs on every word. Or negotiations where the cost of a mistake in one term is a failed deal. At such moments it becomes clear: you can't do without an interpreter on site, and whether the parties understand each other at all depends on the interpreter's level.

Svetlana Taskaeva is exactly that case. Philology Faculty of Moscow State University, postgraduate studies, retraining in the 'Simultaneous Interpreting' course at Moscow State Linguistic University named after M. Torez, Certificate of Proficiency in English. Since 2004–2006 she has been working as a freelance interpreter: simultaneous interpreting in a booth, consecutive interpreting at negotiations, receptions and press conferences, accompanying top officials. Topics — from electronics, oil and gas, construction and metallurgy to biotechnology, IT and communications, medicine, finance, banking and statistics. Special formats: simultaneous interpreting of focus groups in marketing research, simultaneous interpreting-voiceover of films, remote interpreting of teleconferences, business trips across Russia and abroad.

On site it looks like this: Svetlana works in a booth or next to the speaker, thoroughly reviews the topic and terminology in advance so as not to stumble on industry-specific words. Her clients include Sberbank, UniCredit, Raiffeisenbank, EBRD, IBM, SAP, CISCO, NEC, Nokia Siemens Networks, PepsiCo, Unilever, Johnson & Johnson, Russian Railways, Aeroflot, Renault Russia, ExxonMobil, Shell Global Solutions, the Ministry of Health and Social Development of the Russian Federation, and the embassies of Poland and Canada. This experience means she doesn't need to be explained how a business conversation with a foreign delegation works.
